Middleton Marine charged with murder

A Royal Marine from Middleton has been charged with murder following the death of a Royal Navy sailor in a bar in Portsmouth.
Luke Morton, 21, of Rochdale Road, has been charged in connection with the death of Kyle Bartlett, 21, after the sailor was repeatedly kicked and punched in a brawl on Tuesday 6 May.
He died from severe head injuries after he had been taken to a nearby hospital.
Two other Royal Marines, both from Southsea, have already been charged with the murder. They were remanded in custody and are due to appear at Winchester Crown Court on 14 August.
Morton is due before Portsmouth Magistrates next Friday (3 July).
