Ladies score for Springhill Midnight Walk

Date published: 22 June 2009

Players from Rochdale Ladies Football Club (RLFC) will be swapping the football pitch for the long road this summer as they prepare for the launch of this year’s Springhill Hospice Midnight Walk.

Kicking off from the Middleton Arena, the ladies-only 13-mile trek will be taking place on 18 July.

Last year walkers raised a staggering £23,000 for Springhill Hospice. This year, with the support of RLFC, organisers are hoping to attract even more ladies to take part in the midnight walk. Sponsors for the walk include Jonathan Swire Estate Agents and the event is being supported by Link4Life, UKFTA and Middleton Round Table.

Manager of Rochdale Ladies FC, Phil Pearson commented: “We are delighted to be supporting the launch of this year’s Midnight Walk.

"Our team recognises the vital service Springhill Hospice provides to its local community. RLFC are proud to encourage even more ladies to take part in the walk this year”.

Fundraising Manager, Ian Jenkins said: “Having the local ladies football team support us this year has been invaluable. This year’s walk is guaranteed to be a real success and we know with the help of the local community, it will be the best to date."
