Bernard Braiden appointed to PCT Board

Bernard Braiden, local Middleton resident has been appointed to serve as a Non Executive Director of Heywood Middleton and Rochdale Primary Care Trust for the period 1 June 2007 to 31 May 2009. For this appointment, Mr Braiden will be remunerated at the rate of £7,598 per annum and will become instrumental in assisting the PCT to meet its challenging agenda in the years ahead.
 
Bernard lives in Middleton, he has worked as a Commercial Director with overall responsibility and management of NHS contract opportunities for the Patient Care Division of a local company based in Oldham for a number of years.  The company supplied products and services to the NHS.

He previously worked for 23 years as a Contracts Manager/Commercial Director for an international Company.  

All non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public. Mr Braiden has not declared any political activity in the last five years and he does not hold any other ministerial appointments.

John Pierce, Chairman of Heywood Middleton and Rochdale PCT said: “We welcome Bernard because of his wealth of experience in working with the NHS, particularly his direct knowledge and understanding of contracts with which the NHS is increasingly having to deal with into the future.”
