Man critical after Road Traffic Accident

A 38-year-old man from Rochdale is in a critical condition in hospital after being involved in a collision with an articulated lorry last night, Tuesday 19 June 2007.
Shortly before 11.30pm, the lorry was travelling towards Heywood along Bolton Road in Marland when it collided with a man who was crossing the road near to the junction of Eskdale Avenue.
The man suffered serious head injuries and was taken to Rochdale Infirmary. He was later transferred to Fairfield Hospital and then onto the Neurological Unit at Royal Bolton Hospital.
A 43-year-old man from Heywood who was driving the lorry was not injured.
Road closures were in place in the area for almost three hours while traffic officers dealt with the incident.
