Train Stations being made 'safer'

Thousands of pounds is being spent on making Rochdale train stations
a safer places to be.
New CCTV cameras, help points, customers information screens and public announcement systems are all part of an expensive Government plan for stations-in-need across the region, including Rochdale, Littleborough and Mills Hill.
About £1.3m of work is under way to improve safety and security at Stations also including Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford and Wigan.
Cllr Keith Whitmore, Deputy Chairman of Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority said: “"It is crucial for us to make it as easy as possible for people to travel by bus, train or tram and that is why were are investing in these new facilities."
Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority (GMITA) has invested £1m for the work and Department for Transport has provided a grant of £280,000.
