Protestors hurled eggs and broke a car window in a furious rage after a far-right BNP European election victory in the North West.
Police wrestled enraged protestors as party leader Nick Griffin left Manchester Town Hall after a night of high drama and dismay at what described as a "damning" move in British politics.
New MEP’s walked off stage in protest as Griffin, who has a conviction for publishing material likely to incite racial hatred, began his victory speech.
He will now represent the North West of England.
Of Rochdale voters, 4905 voted for the party.
