Rochdale MP Paul Rowen marked ‘National Carer’s Week’ by doing a shift with Rochdale’s ‘Meals on Wheels’ Team
Rochdale MP Paul Rowen marked ‘National Carer’s Week’ by doing a shift with Rochdale’s ‘Meals on Wheels’ Team.
He visited 18 homes across Rochdale to see for himself how the service was operating. Each month over 70 volunteers deliver around 5000 meals from 7 vans to the housebound and those not able to cook for themselves.
All those he saw were delighted with the service. Paul went out with two volunteers – Graham and Lisa who work together every Monday to deliver their “round”.
Mr Rowen said: “The work they do is very much appreciated and needed and according to the residents it is working very well. T
"The residents ages ranged from early 70s up to 96 years old. The volunteers did an excellent job and it’s clear that Meals on Wheels is much more than just helping people to eat."
