Roll up, roll up for Hospice concert

Date published: 01 June 2009

Rochdale school choirs will be taking part in Springhill Hospice's annual 'Children’s Voices for Hospice' concert at the Gracie Fields Theatre on Sunday 14 June.

This year’s theme will be ‘Roll up, roll up’ and audiences can expect songs about the carnival, circus and funfair.

Choirs from Smithybridge Primary, St Michaels in Bamford, St Patrick’s, St Vincent’s, Whittaker Moss, Holy Trinity in Littleborough and Tonacliffe Primary in Whitworth will join both Rochdale Boys Choir and Rochdale Girls Choir in the concert. The Middleton Youth Choir will also be taking part this year for the first time.

Musicians from Rochdale Youth Wind Orchestra will provide accompaniment and the show will be compered by actor Eric Potts, best known as baker Diggory Compton in Coronation Street.

Ian Jenkins, Springhill Hospice Fundraising Manager, said: “The Children’s Voices for Hospice Concert has become established as one of the best showcases for the wonderful young talent we have around the Borough.

"If last year’s concert is anything to go by, we fully expect a sell-out, so I would strongly advise people to purchase their tickets as soon as possible.”

Tickets, priced at £5 adult, £3 concessionary, £15 family (2 adults and 2 con.) are available now from participating schools, the Tourist Information Centre at Touchstones, Rochdale Music Service, Fieldhouse School and Springhill Hospice Fundraising Office on Broad Lane.

Debit and credit card bookings can be made during office hours via the Hospice Fundraising Office on 01706 649920 (£1 booking fee applicable).
