True Serenity Holistic Centre grand opening

Date published: 30 May 2009

Rochdale's premier holistic centre, True Serenity, opened it doors this weekend to offer 'taster' sessions from a diverse range of holistic practioners. 'Taster' treatments in a range of complementary therapies included: Seated Acupressure, Sports Massage, Reiki, EFT, Reflexology, Theta DNA, Auricular Acupuncture, Amma Massage and Sophrology. Demonstrations in Yoga, Tai Chi, Meditation and Dynamic Relaxation. Consultations and advice from qualified and experienced Education Support Advisor and Counsellors. Art workshops, Palmistry, Card Readers.

The new centre is the realisation of Joanne Potts long held vision to bring together a variety of professionals who share a belief in the importance of holistic health and wellbeing. The centre provides a range of treatments, training, education and workshops.

Practioner Tracey Lambert is one of the practioners based at the centre offering a number of treatments, including aromatherapy massage and reflexology. Asked about the centre she said: "I think the centre is marvellous, Jo has done so well to bring the vision to fruition. I am now based here and am looking forward to meeting new clients. In the future I may also hold workshops here."

Ms Lambert's taster sessions are fully booked today (Saturday 30 May) but she, along with some of the other practioners, does have a few spots still available for tomorrow (Sunday 31 May) - booking is however advisable to avoid disappointment.

Judith Roberts, a legal secretary, tried a 'taster' session of Amma massage, asked to explain what the treatment did for her she said: "It is very relaxing; I could feel energy surging through my body as the acupressure points was massaged. I will definitely come again and will be recommending the centre to others."

Joanne Potts is the visionary behind the centre, speaking to Rochdale Online she said: "The weekend is about raising awareness, letting the public know we are here and open for treatments. The taster sessions are a good way of trying out various therapies. Clients are asked to pay £5 for fifteen minutes and £10 for 30 minutes for the tasters with all proceeds being donated to Springhill Hospice.

"We have five practioners and three consultants here today and tomorrow and clients can book online or by telephone."

Asked about her background, Ms Potts explained that she has worked in the health and fitness industry for some time, including running a healthy lifestyle youth project for Rochdale Borough Council, and she is a qualified Reiki practioner and will be offering regular treatments at the centre.
