It’s your bus, respect it...that’s the message from First, which has launched a campaign to tackle nuisance behaviour.
The campaign features a series of quirky characters to represent the pet hates of passengers — loud music, feet on seats, littering and eating.
Claire Johnson, commercial manager for First in Manchester, said: “Our customers are regularly telling us, through surveys or our customer complaints processes, that these are the four anti-social issues that concern them the most when travelling on our buses.
“By using an innovative approach to a serious problem, we believe we can make a notable difference to issues which cause a real headache for our customers.”
The images of Litter Lads, MP3 Player, Mr Chips and Soiled Seats will be seen onboard as well as on the back of tickets.
Passenger Focus, the independent passenger watchdog, has backed the nationwide scheme.
David Sidebottom, of Passenger Focus, said: “In our new role as the representative of bus passengers, we are becoming aware that issues such as eating smelly food and people playing their music too loud are a real concern to bus users.
“First’s attempt to tackle these issues should be applauded and will help to encourage more people to use the bus in the future.”
