Photo competition to capture local beauty
Date published: 28 May 2009

The nature site at Summit is just one of many views across Oldham and Rochdale that could be a winner in the photography competition.
Budding amateur photographers that are inspired by the wildlife of Rochdale or have an eye for the local landscapes have chance to get creative with Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale's first photographic competition to highlight the natural gems hidden around the area.
With the help of local residents and volunteers, Groundwork manages a number of nature sites throughout both Rochdale and Oldham, and the group are looking to capture the sites on film and enter their competition.
Katy Lloyd, Education Officer at Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, said: “There’s a number of excellent local nature sites home to a variety of animals, birds and insects. We want people to explore these sites, photographing their beauty and sharing the experience with others. I hope the photo competition will enable visitors to discover the sites in a new light and hopefully capture features that we never new existed.”
Entrants are invited to photograph any aspect of the sites, from the creatures that live there to the people who enjoy these local assets. The theme is open to individual interpretation but entries must have the nature site at their heart.
To enter the competition email your images (in hi-res jpeg format) to andrew.fowler@groundwork.org.uk or post to Photographic Competition 2009, Groundwork Oldham & Rochdale, Environment Centre, Shaw Road, Higginshaw, Oldham, OL1 4AW.
State your name, address, email address, contact telephone number and where and when the photo was taken with your entry.
The closing date for entries is Friday 20 November.
