A 60-year-old woman was taken to hospital after her car was crushed under a lamp post.
Two fire engines, an ambulance and police attended the scene on Rochdale Road East, just off Bolton Road, at 12.30pm yesterday afternoon (Monday 25 May), where she had hit a bollard at high speed, veering into the lamp post, which fell onto her car.
Fire appliances from Heywood and Rochdale attended, but luckily the woman had not become trapped.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Police said: “The woman was taken to hospital for treatment, and has been classed as walking wounded.”
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: "The lamp post had been completely knocked down but the woman was not trapped."
