Andrew Nutter braved the elements at the Chelsea Flower Show to cook up a feast for gardeners before returning to his Rochdale restaurant to find it had been named the North West’s favourite restaurant 2009 by the Good Food Guide.
At Chelsea, Mr Nutter teamed up with Patricia Fox of Aralia Garden Design on her contemporary courtyard garden to create dishes picked and cooked direct from her garden.
The garden boasted several firsts at Chelsea, having the first ever living edible wall and also showcased a new variety of Red Watercress.
The garden went on to win a prestigious RHS Silver Medal.
Meanwhile, 23,000 people voted in the regional Restaurant of the Year awards and Nutters, on Edenfield Road, now goes head-to-head with the other nine regional winners for the national award, which will be announced on 9 June.
