Clumsy criminal is charged

Police investigating an incident in Heywood in which a man ran into a fridge door during an attempted robbery have charged a 23-year-old man.
Bradley Dixon, born 30/10/83, of Benmore Close, Heywood, has been charged with assault with intent to rob and is due to appear at Rochdale Magistrates' Court on Monday 16 July 2007.
At the time of the incident, which occurred at Jimmy's off-licence on Tower Street, Heywood, on Saturday 14 April 2007 the offender was dubbed Greater Manchester's dimmest robber.
Having already paid for one can of lager, he returned to the fridge and took out another can and left the fridge door open. When the shopkeeper opened the till a second time, the offender sprayed him with CS Gas.
The offender was knocked back when the shopkeeper punched him in the face and then, clearly disorientated, he turned round and ran straight into the fridge door. He then got to his feet and ran out of the shop.
