Gateway to Rochdale town centre
Rochdale Online readers have the chance to vote for their favourite Rochdale and Middleton badges, to be worn by the new town centre ambassadors.
The emblems have been designed by students at Hopwood Hall College and the winning student will have their design made into badges and window stickers that will be displayed across Rochdale and Middleton town centres.
Rochdale Online reporter Kirsty Rigg is one of the ambassadors, alongside parking attendants, PCSOs, business owners, Town Centre Management staff and shop assistants, who began their training two weeks ago.
A spokesperson for Rochdale Town Centre Management said: "The Ambassador training programme aims to encourage those taking part to enhance the customers/visitors experience in the area through the provision of enhanced local knowledge whilst delivering exceptional levels of customer service.
"It is an innovative and exciting project which will make an all round improvement in customer service for Rochdale and Middleton thus enhancing the customers experience in the Town Centres, and is supported by Rochdale Council, Link4Life and Rochdale and Middleton Town Centre Management Companies."
Last week representatives from Town Centre Management, Link4Life and Rochdale Council visited Hopwood Hall College to meet graphic design students and their tutor, Sharon Drysdale, and view their badge designs.
Four badges have been shortlisted for each town and Rochdale Online readers can now vote for their favourite.
Tim Nuttall, Tourism Officer for Rochdale Council, said: “Training for the new Town Centre Ambassador scheme has gone really well. The Ambassadors are raring to go, but we need a logo for them to wear. Hopwood Hall students have given us some great designs, and with the final choice being made by readers the scheme will get off to a tremendous start.”
