Bungalow gets style makeover
Date published: 19 May 2009
Heywood residents can see the latest in cutting edge interior design at one of the new environmentally friendly bungalows on Heady Hill Road this weekend.
The bungalow has been fully furnished and decorated by Gulseren Kenlic Cretol, a student on the interior design course at Heywood Housing Partnership.
After completing the course, accredited by the National Design Academy, her designs were chosen as those which would be made a reality.
Course Tutor Catherine Toolan said: “It’s great to see ideas put into practice. I’m sure everyone will be impressed with the finished result, which shows the potential of creating a modern style that runs throughout the whole home and shows best use of the space.
"The show home looks stunning, and it’s been decorated on a low budget in less than three weeks. Gulseren has learned a lot about how to manage a project too.”
You can get a chance to see the finished results this Saturday and Sunday, when the bungalow is open to the public between 10am and 4pm.
Two of the environmentally friendly bungalows have been earmarked for first time buyers, and the other two will be for Heywood residents over 55.
Deborah Beagin, Head of Heywood Housing Partnership, said: “Given the current economic climate shared ownership could be an ideal opportunity.
"As well as viewing the bungalows, residents can also have a look at the plans for Heady Hill, which will see more vacant land transformed with homes for sale, rent and shared ownership.
"Getting onto the property ladder is hard and these houses are not only affordable to buy but have the added advantages of being easy to run and very energy efficient.”
