Single dedicated to Sophie
Date published: 12 May 2009

Beholder released the single, never take us down, yesterday (11 May)
“Never take us down”. That is the strong message from metal-rock band Beholder, as they release a single dedicated to Sophie Lancaster, the woman who was murdered for dressing like a Goth.
Miss Lancaster, 20, was killed as she tried to protect her boyfriend from thugs in a park in Bacup almost two years ago.
The pair, who lived in Rochdale town centre before getting a flat together in Rossendale, became the centre of interest in the national media as it emerged they were attacked simply because of they way they were dressed.
As reported by Rochdale Online News, Sophie’s mum has been battling with the justice system for higher sentencing guidelines for crimes against sub cultures.
To highlight this campaign, and to support the Sophie Lancaster foundation, Beholder has released the song, available for download on the internet as of yesterday (Monday 11 May).
Mum Sylvia Lancaster told Rochdale Online News: “I think it great that Beholder have decided to release this single. All the money made from it is going towards the Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
“I hope it is a clear message and that people take notice of the prejudice which is going on every day”.
Never take us down is available for download, for 99p, from:
