Police call out for Home Watch volunteers
Police in Heywood are appealing for volunteers to help them in the fight against crime by becoming Home Watch coordinators.
The role includes acting as a link between residents involved in Home Watch schemes and the police, encouraging people to join existing Home Watch schemes, passing on information to police about suspicious incidents and circulating crime prevention advice to residents.
Sergeant Valerie Lamb for the Heywood Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “Reducing crime is a top priority and to achieve this we need as much help from local residents as possible. I would therefore urge people to volunteer themselves as Home Watch coordinators as they will be playing a vital role in the fight against crime.
“Home Watch schemes can reduce home insurance costs and improve community relations as residents work together to fight crime. I would encourage people to either join an existing scheme or think about setting one up themselves.”
