Barmaid’s killer could have jail term lengthened
Date published: 10 May 2009
Guilty: Neil McNulty admitted to the manslaughter of a 27-year-old mother who was out with friends in December last year
The man who killed a barmaid after throwing a bottle into a crowded pub could face a longer jail term.
Neil McNulty, 19, of Peel Lane, Heywood, was jailed for four-and-a-half years last month, for killing mother-of-three Emma O’Kane while she was out with friends at the Queen Anne Hotel, the bar where she worked, on Boxing Day 2008.
But Miss O’Kane’s partner is appealing against the sentencing, saying it is not long enough.
The Crown Prosecution Service has confirmed that a letter has been written to the Attorney General, and the case could be reconsidered in the Court of Appeal.
