Rochdale and Littleborough Peace Group took to the streets of Rochdale yesterday (Saturday 9 May).
Rochdale and Littleborough Peace Group took to the streets of Rochdale yesterday (Saturday 9 May) to campaign against US Missile Defence in the European elections in June.
The group leafleted around Yorkshire Street, urging people to join them in their quest to convince the Prime Minister to withdraw Missile Defence agreements with the US government.
Many people signed postcards both to the Prime Minister and their MPs. These called for an end to all plans to put weapons in space.
Philip Gilligan said, “People seemed very clear that they do not want weapons in space and do not want US military bases in Britain.
"Like the Peace Group, people in Rochdale very much welcomed the decision by Paul Rowen MP to sign Peter Kilfoyle’s Early Day Motion on US Missile Defence."
