Service centre closed while changes take place

Date published: 08 August 2007

Rochdale's main customer service centre will be closed on Monday 13 and Tuesday 14 August while upgrading work takes place.

£50,000 is being spent on transforming the centre, based on floor two of the Municipal Offices, with the aim of making significant improvements to the design and layout in order to benefit customers.

The changes mean that staff will be able to deal with customers more quickly and the introduction of screens means that confidential issues can be discussed in private.

There will also be changes to the displays to ensure that information about council services is accessible and easy to find.

During the building works the cash office will remain open, but all other services will be provided from other customer service centres across the borough. Office hours vary for these centres but visitors can ring 01706 924408 or the local office for details.

Cabinet member for Townships and Corporate Management Keith Swift said: "People who use the centre regularly have told us the changes they want us to make and we have listened to their views. The changes are about providing people with the facilities they want and ensuring a significant improvement in the way we deliver our services."

Regular users of the service centre have been notified of the closure and Rochdale Council would like to apologise for any inconvenience the two day closure may cause.
