Gun found after shots fired in Heywood

A handgun has been recovered by police investigating shots fired in Heywood yesterday morning, Thursday 9 August 2007.
The firearm was recovered from a garden on Bury Old Road, close to the junction with Huntley Way, at about 6.10pm last night.
It is believed it had been discarded there a short time earlier.
Officers are continuing to appeal for information after shots were fired on Market Street just before 2am yesterday.
Police are treating the shooting as an isolated incident and extra patrols have been placed in the area to provide reassurance to the community.
