Disruption after large rubbish fire
Date published: 29 April 2009
Arsonists burned a pile of dumped rubbish at the back of Albert Hotel.
Two fire engines and police cars arrived at the scene on Spotland Road at 6.30pm last night (Tuesday 28 April), after the fire had caused damage to a brick out-house in the pub garden.
A spokesman from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “It was a large pile of rubbish that was set alight; it caused some damage to the brick house outside.
“We sent both appliances from Rochdale fire station and had everyone under control in less than 60 minutes.”
A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police confirmed the matter had been brought to their attention.
