Scouts on parade
Date published: 28 April 2009
Hundreds turned out for a St George’s Day parade in Rochdale Town Centre on Sunday.
Organised by Rochdale District Scout Association, scouts, cubs and beavers met at the Parish Church on Sparrow Hill for the annual St George's service and then enjoyed sunshine as they marched along Drake Street to the Town Hall.
Chris McLaren, organiser of the parade and Group Scout Leader for the 37th Rochdale group, said: “It was a fantastic day, and really popular, with scouts, beavers and cubs from across the borough joining the parade.
"Every year the Scouts recognise St George's Day and it is a proud day for them to carry their flags in front of the Town Hall and salute the Mayor."
