A man had his car stolen at gunpoint in Rochdale.

Police were called to East Street in Rochdale just after 1.50am on Saturday 21 March following reports of a robbery.

The victim and his friend were fitting a stereo to his yellow Hyundai Coupe, registration number HX54 HLH.

Two men approached them and one pointed a pistol through the driver’s side window, telling the victim to get out of the car.

The second man threatened both the victim and his friend with a knife.

The men then stole the Hyundai, which was later recovered on Hatro Court, Urmston.

Both men wore balaclavas and gloves. The second man was described as around 5ft 11ins tall and of an average build.

A dark coloured Ford Mondeo drove off behind the victim with a further two men wearing balaclavas on board.

Detective Constable Tim O’Callaghan of Rochdale CID said: “The victim and his friend were left very scared by this robbery and it is worrying the offenders can so easily point a gun at someone.

”This incident took place in the very early hours but I am hoping someone may have information about who is responsible.”

Anyone with information should call police on 0161 856 8632 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
