Charities to benefit from CFGM handouts

Date published: 23 April 2009

Charities in Rochdale are to benefit after grants organisation The Community Foundation for Greater Manchester (CFGM) was appointed to deliver £1.68 million funding to the region's charities.

Rochdale is one of six Greater Manchester authorities to get money from the Government's 'Real Help For Communities: Targeted Support Fund', which will be allocated by CFGM.

Rochdale will be given funding as one of 50 boroughs in the country deemed most at risk of suffering deprivation due to the recession.

Registered charities in Rochdale will be given grants of between £10,000 and £40,000 as part of the scheme with those that provide services specifically related to the recession, such as debt management, training and unemployment and mental health, given the largest sums.

CFGM’s chief executive Nick Massey said: “We have proven that we are able to put these funds where they can make the most difference in Greater Manchester.”
