On the insect property ladder
Date published: 22 April 2009

Youngsters at Hollin Children’s Centre plant their insect homes.
Rochdale's housing market may have crashed but there were plenty of insects looking for new homes at Hollin Sure Start children's centre this week.
Children made homes to attract mini-beasts from bamboo and knott weed, which they buried in Hollin Clough, and made bee hives under the watchful eye of local Forest Ranger, Terry Costigan, who visited the centre to talk to children, parents/carers and childminders about mini-beasts in the local environment.
The children will return in four weeks to unearth the insect homes and identify what they find.
Mr Costigan will be visiting the centre again on Thursday 28 May when he will be taking children and parents on a pond dipping experience.
Interested families should call into the centre on Tintern Road or ring Hollin Children’s Centre for more information on 0161 655 4429.
