St Aidan’s Church, Sudden
Members of St Aidan’s Church in Sudden are celebrating the success of the first stage of their ‘Raise the Roof’ project with the confirmation that additional funding needed from the English Heritage Lottery Fund for additional works has been approved.
Work to re-build part of the roof structure and remedial timber work is expected to start within the next few weeks and is scheduled to last for thirteen weeks in total.
Fundraising now continues for Phase 2 to deal with associated internal works and also to improve the access drives and car park.
Church member and Project Manager John Tolley said: “We’ve thoroughly enjoyed our fundraising efforts over the past year and it will be a great relief not to have to deal with puddles and other damage in the Church after heavy rainfall. We’re now keen to get on with Phase 2 and to make visiting St Aidan’s a more welcoming and comfortable experience for visitors.”
