Knives, drugs, needles: Items confiscated from court

Knives, needles, drugs, and screwdrivers. These are just some of the items confiscated at Rochdale Magistrates Court in the past six months.
Figures obtained by Rochdale Online News show variety of dangerous or illegal items which have been discovered by security staff since October last year.
Records from before October 2008 are “unavailable” according to the Ministry of Justice, who supplied the figures under the Freedom of Information Act.
All items were returned to their owners on exit of the court.
Rochdale Online News is awaiting a comment from the court service.
Items confiscated between October 2008 and March 2009 are:
- 15 Knives
- 13 Cameras
- 1 Pack of Needles
- 3 Bottles of Methadone
- 1 Dictaphone
- 1 pack of sharps
- 2 Penknives
- 2 Screwdrivers
- 1 Heavy chain with keys
- 1 Glass bottle
- 1 pair of scissors
- 1 Metal comb
- 1 Dead lock key
- 1 Bottle opener
- 1 Bottle opener with keys
- 1 Nail file
- 1 Phone charger
