Sprucing up the Langley estate

Date published: 20 April 2009

Gardeners have moved in on the Langley estate to give spruce up the area and keep gardens in tip-top shape.

Riverside Pennine (formerly Bowlee park housing association) welcomed Connaught PLC onto the Langley estate last week to begin its new grass cutting contract.

Customers are already complimenting the work carried out so far with tenants popping into Riverside’s office to praise gardeners from Connaught PLC, who were awarded the five year contract last month.

A Langley resident has also been taken on to help with the delivery of the contract while receiving training to become a qualified gardener.

Connaught PLC staff members can report on specific topical issues at The Langley Environment Group monthly meeting and agree on priority tasks as they arise.

Ian Heppenstall said residents are benefitting from the change immediately.

He said: “Connaught Plc’s Environment contract on the Langley estate involves grass cutting and tidying up the gardens of individual homes prior to new customers moving in.

“The team will also tend the gardens of our more vulnerable clients on Bowlee Park who are unable to carry out the work themselves.

“This contract will benefit Langley residents enormously and will see the estate looking brighter and tidier as a result of the gardeners input.”
