Landlord fights for life in hospital
Date published: 19 April 2009
The landlord of the Spring Mill Tavern has suffered a potentially life-threatening head injury after an incident at the pub on Halifax Road.
The 39-year old landlord was found unconscious inside the pub on Sunday afternoon (19 April).
The victim is now fighting for his life in hospital.
Enquiries are ongoing to establish how the man sustained his injuries.
Detective Inspector Steve Earnshaw said: “We are investigating how this man came to suffer such a nasty head injury.
“At this stage we are looking into a number of possibilities as to what has taken place at the Spring Mill Tavern. We believe that the victim was safe and well at 1.30am but some time between then and 12.45pm, he has sustained a very serious head injury and I would appeal to anyone who has information or who was with him in the tavern earlier in the evening to come forward and help us piece together what happened."
Anyone with information should call Rochdale CID on 0161 856 4646 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
