Green light for car park surgery
Date published: 15 April 2009
A new doctors surgery is to be built on a supermarket car park.
Rochdale Borough Council’s Panning Sub-Committee approved the move, which will bring what is said to be a much needed development to town.
All members of the committee voted in favour.
The doctor’s surgery will be situated at the rear car park at Morrisons supermarket on Kingsway, backing onto what will be a metro link station.
The building will provide four GP rooms, a practice room and associated offices along with staff and patient welfare facilities.
Councillor Ted Flynn said: “It was a simple all-agreed vote. That doctor’s surgery is needed in the town and it will bring only good things to local people”.
A date for construction has not yet been set.
