Mental health trust rates among top 100 healthcare employers

Date published: 09 April 2009

Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust, which runs mental healthcare services in Rochdale, has been named 63rd among the top 100 healthcare employers in the UK, becoming the only mental health Trust within the North West to feature in the ‘Healthcare 100’ list.

The survey was open to both NHS and independent healthcare providers in the acute, primary care, mental health and ambulance sectors.

The list was compiled from responses from a survey of staff undertaken in October 2008 by IPSOS MORI, supported by NHS Employers, and measured the Trust against a range of indicators of world class employment practices.

Catherine Youds, People and Development Director of Pennine Care said: "We are really pleased and proud to have received this accolade and acknowledgement, particularly because the survey was completed by our staff. We are continuously working with our employees to make Pennine Care a great place to work, and this recognition demonstrates we are getting there."

The assessment panel was particularly impressed with the Trust’s hard work and initial success in the area of staff engagement, its flexible working and carers leave policies as well as the Trust’s ‘positive energy and enthusiasm'.
