Local people are being encouraged to brush up on their skills and learn some new ones.
The Rochdale Borough Skills and Learning Fair will return to Rochdale Town Hall on Tuesday 19 May.
The event, staged by Rochdale Council and partners Hopwood Hall College and Nextstep, is being held as part of Adult Learners’ Week; a national celebration aimed at inspiring adults to learn something new or update their skills.
Councillor Mohammad Sharif, Cabinet Member for Regeneration at Rochdale Borough Council is keen for people from across the borough to visit the fair and find out what sort of training is on offer.
He said: “In the current economic climate, there’s never been a better time to make sure you’ve got the right skills to get the best job possible. Whether you’re looking to completely re-train or gain an extra qualification to achieve a promotion at work, the Rochdale Borough Skills and Learning Fair will be able to help you on your way.”
Training providers, colleges and careers advisors will be amongst a vast range of exhibitors taking part in the event, which will run between 11am-6pm. There will also be help and advice on brushing up your CV and preparing for those all important interviews.
The event will be followed by a presentation of awards to recognise the efforts of adults who’ve already successfully developed new skills, overcome difficulties or changed career.
