Rapist faces 11 years behind bars

A rapist from Rochdale is has begun a decade-long jail sentence for subjecting girls to frightening sex acts.
John Podmore, 64, from Kirkholt has been charged with three counts of rape between 1987 and 1994.
Bolton Crown Court heard how he told one of his victims that no-one would believe her if she spoke our about her ordeal.
Podmore initially denied the charges but changes his plea to guilty on the first day of his trial.
Judge Elliot Knopf sentenced him to 11 years in prison, whilst accepting he may well not survive the length of his term.
Podmore was also forced to sign the Sex Offenders Register, which he will remain on for life.
