Have your say on the future of Springfield Park

Date published: 03 April 2009

Springfield Park will come under the spotlight on Saturday 18 April as local residents and young people have the opportunity to have their say on the vision for Springfield Park in Rochdale.

Running from 10am to 2pm at Matthew Moss High School, members of the public are invited to drop in to find out more information about the park, speak to representatives from Rochdale Council, Link4Life and the Friends of Springfield Park, and see plans for its future development, which have included a controversial golf driving range on existing playing fields in the park.

Once visitors have had the chance to gather information, they will be asked to complete a questionnaire – which will be used to obtain views that will help shape future decisions about the park.

Councillor Wera Hobhouse, Rochdale Council’s cabinet member for environment and sustainability said: “People’s views are extremely important, and to be representative it is vital that as many people take part as possible so their views can be gathered and used to help inform future decisions about Springfield Park.”

Following the event, an independent adjudicator will prepare and publish a report based on the views given by the public at the event.
