Head resigns from failing school
Date published: 02 April 2009
A headteacher has resigned from her failing school just days after she was suspended by the local authority.
Margarette Chapman resigned from Hollin Primary School for personal reasons and will leave the school tomorrow (Friday 3 April).
The school's latest Ofsted report placed the school under special measures for 'failing to give pupils an acceptable standard of education'. The management of the school was heavily criticised.
An investigation into Ms Chapman's leadership was called and she was suspended last week.
Teaching and learning consultant Jo Shepherd will become acting head when the school re-opens after the Easter holiday.
