Vicious dog to be put down
Date published: 02 April 2009
A vicious dog is set to be put down after it attacked a four year old girl.
Rochdale Magistrates heard how Mya Done, of Broughton Close in Langley, was mauled by the vicious bull terrier and owner Christopher Bamford, of Honister Drive, admitted being in charge of the out-of-control dog.
Mya was on her way to shops in Lakeland Court with her mother and three-year old brother when the dog attacked her. It gripped her leg and would not let go, leaving Mya scarred for life.
A group of workmen rushed over to help and managed to rescue Mya before the dog could do her any further harm.
Mr Bamford was conditionally discharged for 30 months. The dog is set to be put down by 13 April, although Mr Bamford has 21 days to appeal the court's decision.
