A 10p rise in bus fares is set to hit thousands of children, disabled people and pensioners.
The increase in concessionary fares — rising to 80p from Sunday — will affect under-16s as well as 16-19-year-olds who have a scholar’s permit, passengers with an over-60s permit who pay to travel before 9.30am and disabled people with a permit who pay to travel before 9.30am.
The rise is a set rate across all Greater Manchester’s bus companies.
Fares on trains and trams will stay at around half the full adult fare for children under 16 and young people aged 16-19 with a scholar’s permit.
Over-60s and disabled people can still travel free on buses, trains and trams after 9.30am across Greater Manchester.
Before 9.30am they will pay half the adult fare on trains and trams.
For further information on all Greater Manchester’s public transport services call the Traveline on 0871 200 22 33.
