Rotary club raises £700 for Mayor's charity

The Mayor is presented with a £700 cheque raised at the Nutter's Lunch.
The Rotary club of Rochdale presented Mayor Robin Parker with a cheque for £700 yesterday as a donation to his chosen charities.
The money was raised at a Gilbert and Sullivan Lunch at Nutters Restaurant earlier this month and all of the proceeds will go towards the Springhill Hospice and the British Heart Foundation.
The dinner took the form of a Sunday D’oyle Carte Lunch with a live performance of Gilbert and Sullivan songs between the courses.
A spokesman for the Rotary Club said: “Last year we were able to help the Mayor’s Appeal with an Opera Night at the Bella Vista Restaurant which raised £2,500.
"We were delighted to be invited by this year’s Mayor to organise an event which he wished to be at Nutters Restaurant as he had been speaking to Andrew Nutter about it.
"We felt that the event should be something that was a little different and decided to organise a Gilbert and Sullivan lunch for which Andrew Nutter once again produced a mouthwatering menu."
All the dishes served at the luncheon were signature dishes served in the private dining rooms at London’s Savoy Hotel, where each room was named after D’Oyle Carte’s productions.
