Skills for parents
Date published: 23 March 2009
Parents who are on a Life Skills course were treated to a visit from a team of fire officers for advice on fire safety in the home.
Community Fire Service Officers Steve Ashworth & Mick Cryer attended Derby Street Children’s Centre, run by Surestart, on Thursday.
The “laugh and learn” group meets every week and is open to new parents to join in with their activities.
Community Fire Safety Officer Steve Ashworth said: “we visited the group to give a fire safety talk while the children are in the crèche, it is a good opportunity for fun as well as learning new things and teaching people about vital safety techniques”.
“We are open to do this for anyone, all they have to do is call us and request a fire safety talk, and we can provide free smoke alarms and advice”.
You can book a free Home Fire Assessment by telephoning 0800 555 815.
Fire safety talks can be requested by phoning 01706 900127.
