Voices for Hospices Concert in memory of Annie Wilson

Date published: 03 October 2007

Tickets are still available for this Sunday’s very special ‘Voices for Hospice’ Concert in memory of Annie Wilson, the hospice fundraiser who passed away in July of this year.

Under her stage name of ‘Annie Lawrence’, she had performed as a singer and dancer for practically all of her adult life – first as a professional in venues around the world, then as a semi-professional across the UK.

Ian Jenkins, Fundraising Manager at Springhill Hospice, said: “The support we have had from Annie’s showbiz friends has been superb. I am delighted to say that we have had word from Buzz Hawkins that he wants to come along and do a routine. We have local comic Dudley Doolittle as our compere, radio personality and hospice patron Norman Prince, top impressionist Johnny More and 1960’s all-girl group the Vernon Girls. Other performers confirmed to appear are Sam Homer, Maggie Cole, Dave McLeod, Tabu, City Lights and the Steve Warburton Band.

The concert, sponsored by Testing Calibration Services, will be held at Heywood Civic Centre on Sunday 7 October, 2007, commencing at 7:30pm. Tickets, priced at £12.00, which includes a potato-pie supper, will be available on the door.
