Governors ready for new school
Date published: 20 March 2009
The Council has set up a temporary board of governors ahead of the amalgamation of Springhill High School and Balderstone Technology College.
The new school, which will be at the current Springhill site, is set to open in September 2010 and the council has set up the temporary board of governors in order to ease the transition into a single school.
The group will be charged with appointing the new school's headteacher and could remain in their roles until the end of next year in the hope that the transition goes smoothly.
There will be a permanent board in place from January 2011.
The governors on the temporary board will include those currently on the boards at both schools as well as Dame Pamela Coward, chairman of the new Rochdale Sixth Form College Corporation and David Roberts, deputy head of Middleton Technology School.
