Give an egg to get fit

Date published: 19 March 2009

Rochdale residents are being encouraged to get fit and help local disadvantaged families at the same time.

New customers to Link4Life fitness centres across the borough can make a big saving on membership in the run up to Easter in return for the donation of an Easter Egg for local families in need.

Fitness joining fees have been slashed to just £10 in support of the charity Easter Egg appeal.

Link4Life, the Rochdale Boroughwide Cultural Trust, are joining with local charity ‘Family Action’ to distribute the donated Easter Eggs to families in the borough.

Family Action has been a leading provider of services to disadvantaged and socially isolated families for 140 years and is active throughout the borough. It works with over 45,000 families a year by providing practical, emotional and financial support through over 100 services based in communities across England. A further 60,000 benefit from educational grants and information services.

Link4Life Head of Sport & Leisure, John Taylor, speaking about the offer, said: “This is a great opportunity for anyone to beat the credit crunch and take advantage of our cut price saving – and we hope that in return people will respond generously and provide a welcome Easter treat for local families who really need it.”

The Easter Egg fitness offer is available at Link4Life Fitness Centres at Littleborough Sports Centre, Heywood Sports Complex, Middleton Arena and Rochdale Central Leisure until 8 April.
