Heywood mill evacuated after fire
Date published: 17 March 2009
A Heywood mill was evacuated yesterday morning (Monday 16 March) after an industrial printing machine caught fire.
Fire crews had to wear specialist protection suits while tackling the blaze at Clough Mill on Ashworth Road.
A small quantity of chemicals used as part of the printing process accelerated the fire before the crew was able to make the incident safe.
Paramedics were at the scene but it is believed that no-one was injured during the blaze and the mill was evacuated as a precaution.
