The boys are back in town!

Two local bands, Element and The Repo Men, play the Whitworth Civic Hall on Friday 14 September.

Element are a Heywood based five piece outfit who have been playing to audiences across the country since the start of their summer tour. Whitworth born bassist Richard Rudman said: “It’s a really nice finish to a gruelling few months on the road and it’s great to come back and play a local venue so we can catch up with friends and family.”

Richard, along with lead singer Adam Brown and drummer Gavin Mitchell are no strangers to the stage having previously performed with Whitworth Amateurs in a number of productions.

“This will be the first time we have played the new Civic Hall since the rebuild and it looks fantastic,” said Adam, “much as there was a lot of sentiment with the old place, we are really looking forward to gigging at the Riverside.”

Supporting Element are another band with more than a passing acquaintance with Whitworth. The Repo Men, have reformed after 13 years of working on other music and theatre projects.

Andy Kelly, vice chairman of Whitworth Amateurs said: “I bumped into Alan, our bass player, on a train and we got chatting about the old days and decided to give it a whirl again, our very first gig together was at the old civic hall, so it makes perfect sense to come back here first. We are calling it the ‘Older, Balder, Fatter, Greyer tour’ you can decide who’s who!”

The Repo Men also provided the musical accompaniment for many of the junior productions at the theatre over the years.

Element currently play corporate and headline gigs with both a Queen and Robbie Williams set as well as numbers by The Kaiser Chiefs, Bryan Adams, U2 and The Commitments.

The Repo Men set includes tracks by The Kings of Leon, David Bowie, Thin Lizzy, Biffy Clyro and Fleetwood Mac.

Element and The Repo Men play the Riverside, Whitworth Civic Hall on Friday 14 September. Doors open 8pm, last orders 12.30am.

Tickets £4 each.
