Liberal Democrats launch Rhoda’s Big Survey

Date published: 20 October 2007

The Liberal Democrats have launched what they say is the biggest ever survey of public opinion in Middleton. Named ‘Rhoda’s Big Survey’ they say the aim is to ensure the people of Middleton’s view “counts” and the results will be used to improve the service Middleton people receive from the Council.

Rhoda Morley was the Liberal Democrat candidate in East Middleton at the local elections in May 2007 but was beaten into second place by Labour’s Donna Martin.

Ms Morley launched the survey along with Liberal Democrat Heywood amp; Middleton parliamentary candidate, Councillor Wera Hobhouse who said: “The reason for this survey is to ask for opinions on a number of issues over the year.”

She added that complaints are received about a variety of issues throughout the year and vowed the fight against youth nuisance and for more police on the streets would be stepped up.

Ms Morley added: “Many contacted us during our ‘tell us your grot spot campaign’ and that was greatly appreciated; as a result we were able to get a lot of areas cleaned up.”

The questions in ‘Rhoda’s Big Survey’ cover Crime and Police, the HNS and Health, Transport, Post Offices, Pensions, Schools and Education, Council Tax and the Environment as well as asking Middleton people how they would like to see Middleton run.
