Pennines Councillor Jean Ashworth has a clean car courtesy of Littleborough fire fighters - the Fire Services National Benevolent Fund’s (FSNBF) National Car Wash 2007 rolled into the borough's fire stations on Saturday 15 September.

Councillor Ashworth said: "I took my car to Littleborough Fire station as the lads were doing a charity car wash and I could not believe the number of cars driving in for a wash - mostly driven by the young lady's I hasten to add!

"It was worth going just for the cheeky banter from this great group of fire fighters, who do a brilliant job. My car  was squeaky clean and shining by the time these lads had done. I hope the event raised lots of well deserved money for the fund."

The Fire Services National Benevolent Fund provides a range of services such as therapy and rehabilitation facilities, recuperation and sheltered housing, in addition to recently introducing much needed child and therapy programmes.
