Date published: 17 November 2008

A Middleton man has been named as one of those killed when the car he was in crashed during a highspeed police chase in Oldham yesterday (Sunday 16 November).

Christopher Morrison, 23, died from the injuries he sustained when the Vauxhall Vectra crashed into a garden wall on Middleton Road in Chadderton.

Shortly after 3.30am yesterday a police officer on routine patrol attempted to stop the car in Oldham town centre.

The Vectra made off and the officer pursued the car up to the point that it crashed, leaving a scene of devastation.

Cassie Fox, 19, who was from Monsall, also died after being fatally injured in the crash.

Officers are arranging to visit the next of kin of the other man who died.

A fourth passenger, an 18-year-old woman who lives locally, is currently in a critical condition at Hope Hospital.

GMP's Professional Standards Branch is conducting an investigation into the circumstances surrounding any police involvement in the collision, and it has been referred to the IPCC for their consideration.
