Rochdale’s Fabdance Centre has secured three championship titles at the Gulliver’s Championships in Rotherham, marking a successful start to their competition season.
Thirteen students from the Rooley Moor Road-based dance school competed against schools from across England, Scotland, and Wales, demonstrating their talent and dedication on a national stage. The team achieved outstanding results, securing multiple top spots.
Mia-Grace Walsh and Christopher Booth claimed victory in both the rock ‘n’ roll and slow dance pairs categories. Their team, ‘The Unknown,’ also took first place in the freestyle disco section.
Several other dancers achieved runner-up positions. Emily Holmes secured second place in the slow dance solos, while Evie Law and Bronwyn Walker placed second in the slow dance pairs.
Mia-Grace Walsh also earned second place in the freestyle disco solos, and Cora-Shea Fletcher secured second in slow dance. Additionally, Lyla and Lois Briddon achieved second place in the rock ‘n’ roll category.
In total, Fabdance Centre dancers brought home over 100 trophies – a new record for the school. Every student who participated in the competition returned with at least one trophy, reflecting the high standard of performance and commitment within the team.
Fiona Briddon, school principal, teacher, and owner of Fabdance Centre, said: "I have always been proud of all our students from the studio, but never in a million years did we expect these results."
She added: "We are always on the lookout for new kids to join our award-winning ‘compsquad.’"
The school also received support from the local community to fund their competition efforts. "We held fundraising events to help towards the expenses of the competition, with local businesses providing raffle prizes," Fiona said.
Fabdance Centre’s achievements have highlighted Rochdale’s presence on the national dance stage, and with such a strong start to the season, the team looks forward to further success in future competitions.
